James Holden listed in the census reports as an agricultural labourer, was the sixth child of James and Lydia Holden of Thelnetham, Suffolk. He worked on farms in the Bressingham, Norfolk area, and in 1845 he married Hannah Francis. James and Hannah had 10 children and lived in a cottage that they rented. They named two children Mary Ann, the first child born 8 Aug 1868 died just 4 months later on 14 Dec. 1869. Their second child to be named Mary Ann was born 2 Mar 1873, she married and raised a family, she was called Mary.
